Customer Response

Thank you for such a wonderful experience. This is our third CSA group and by far the best. I cannot tell you how much we have enjoyed our veggies this season. . . We definitely are eating a much wider variety of veggies -- and more of them. I have even seen [my husband] go for seconds on veggies which is definitely a new phenomenon in our house.

2006 Season

I never thought I'd get so excited over vegetables and flowers but you were a very nice part of our summer! I looked forward to the weekly deliveries and seeing what I could cook from the organic treasures in that wonderful brown box. The newletters were informative and interesting. I really, really enjoyed such a gift from Nature and appreciate all the hard work both of you and your team put into giving us the best. Knowing that "voting with my dollars" for the local, ORGANIC farmer is also very satisfying. I have been telling everyone I know about Boistfort!

What brings us back:

  • Freshness of the produce.
  • Cleanliness and almost-ready-to-use nature of most of the vegetables (e.g. broccoli in the form of heads or florets; not much in the way of bulky or dirty stems to deal with).
  • Connection with the producer (aided greatly by receiving the Mike/Heidi musings about what's going on at the farm).
  • Variety (always fun to get those strawberries, raspberries, sweet peaches, fresh flowers, pumpkins, gourds and other "bonus" items).
  • Nice that each box usually provides an appealing mix of leafy vegetables vs. root vegetables, green vegetables vs. orange or yellow vegetables -- plus herbs, onions and/or garlic for seasoning.
  • At-a-glance list provided with veggie box (and also available online in the early AM, which helps me plan the delivery-day dinner menu).

Thank you both for everything. Every night we sit down to eat we list everything that is "from our farmers". The value of knowing where our food comes from... that it is local and fresh and organic is immeasurable. We'll be back next year. We have a lot to be thankful for.

Our family has thoroughly enjoyed eating the fruits of your labor. We've had many meal-time conversations about the produce, your farm, and food-related issues. It's a success if you can prompt teenagers to think and talk about such basic facts of life. The four of us are convinced, in a year of E-coli and salmonella outbreaks, that local food (if not home grown) will become increasingly important to our health and well-being. Thanks for making that possible for this suburban family.

. . .

Thanks so much for such a fantastic way to get organic fruits and veggies and for a way to support local business and growers!! We love every minute of it!!

. . .

Produce was OUTSTANDING!! Sometimes organic produce is unattractive and unappealing with too many bugs and too much damage from the bugs. Everything we received from you was superb. Our favorites were the cherry tomatoes, peas, corn, lettuce, and all of the fruit. Your newsletters are so friendly and informative and I always appreciated the recipes. It's obvious you're very proud of your farm--and you most definitely should be!! This was our first year as subscribers in your program and we very much look forward to participating again next year! Thanks so much for everything!!!

. . .Visiting the farm and hearing from an employee how well you pay your workers, I feel better about the price I pay. As a friend commented, the problem is not that we are paying too much for food, it is that most people pay too little for food. I deeply value eating food that is locally and sustainably produced, and I know the cost of corporate farmed produce is falsely low because the soil suffers and the workers are undercompensated.

. . .

Let me just say a hearty thank you to you both for providing a wonderful service! You've provided a lovely variety of delicious, tasty veggies all summer and fall and we love receiving the farm notes and recipes too. The open house was a fun opportunity to see the farm itself and feel like we really know where our veggies come from. The flowers are always a nice extra touch and make it seem special! Thanks for all your hard work and dedication - we feel lucky to have found you!

I actually thought the produce and arrangement of picking the box up was near perfect. It fit in with my life style just fine.

. . .

I have loved the program. This is my first year. We ate WAY more vegetables than ever before and we all tried many new things. My kids are 12 and 14 and ate every single thing I made. I love that we are eating better foods and that we're supporting local farmers.
When I couldn't' get through the whole box, I gave extra to folks at work, so I never felt it was wasted.
I most appreciated your recipes. I could have used even more. I'm not a cook and most of the foods were new and I was way more likely to use them if I had some ideas of what to do with them.
My most favorite discovery: beets. I adore them. I never had them before and now I know how to roast them and make soup. Yum.
And the flowers are such a treat. Thank you for those.

. . .

Thanks for a great introduction to your CSA program. We really enjoyed the contents of the boxes each week and appreciate and thank you for all of your hard work keeping us healthily fed!
Highlights were the flowers, peas, and berries.
We will definitely be signing up again for next summer and look forward to our two winter deliveries.
   Thanks.

2005 Season

Every single vegetable, fruit, or herb you have supplied has just been at its very peak of flavor.

. . .

I think you guys do a tremendous job. The quality is outstanding, truly delicious. And I love being able to not only eat organic produce but support a LOCAL farm. YOU are the future of healthy eating. We want you to SUCCEED!!
Also, our pick-up location is convenient. Emailing news works great. Looking forward to CSA again next year.

. . .

This is our first summer with Boistfort and I just want to let you know how wonderful it has been. We love your newsletter, the friendly girl at the Farmers' Market, and best of all, the wonderful flowers, fruit and vegetables. All so perfect and so clean too.

. . .

I can't tell you how much we have enjoyed belonging to this share. A whole new world of salads has been opened up to us- we have been creating the most delicious "kitchen sink" salad concoctions.

. . .

. . .we truly love being a part of your CSA. Thanks for all you do and for giving us an opportunity to feel more connected to the food we eat.
P.S. I have never tasted carrots as good as yours and I'm just about incapable of eating carrots from the store anymore. Thanks. . .I think!

. . .

Today will be my 3rd box pickup, and I have to write you and tell you how pleased I am with your CSA program. I look forward to every Tuesday morning like it's Christmas Day to find out what's in the box. The vegetables have been top quality and just plain gorgeous (last week's pears were outstanding!). My husband is eating veggies he's never eaten before- he and my 4-year old son wolfed down both pints of the Sungold cherry tomatoes before I could eat more than 2, and he devoured the Swiss Chard from last week. . . Thank you very much for your dedication, the quality, and the program. I'm glad that I am able to participate.

When I'm sitting in my office, fully wired, but pretty disconnected from all things organic, I love reading about what's happening in the cycle of the farm and how the various veggies are coming along.

. . .

Thanks for driving-thanks for planting, growing, tending, getting up so early and caring! The cabbage is supreme, the cauliflower is a supreme cloud!

. . .

When we decided to branch out from our CSA (of 3 years membership), we looked you up. Have been truly satisfied since. ( We have been CSA members of at least 4 different CSAs for at least 9-10 years). . .
Thank you for sharing your bounty! It is truly delightful! I tell people all the time about the concept of CSA as if it is the best thing since sliced bread. It is something that helps connect me to the dream I once had of farming and of a life more connected to the ground. I am happy for you that you are living that life, however muddy it is, and that we can connect with you in this way.

. . .

We have really enjoyed the wonderful selection of vegetables in each box. They are all so pretty and trimmed and packed nicely. We look forward to next season. You're great farmers!!

. . .

This is our first year participating in your farm. We have enjoyed your produce immensely. The care you put in to your work is evident by the quality of your produce, weekly notes, recipes. We are eating healthier and trying new vegetables. It is great.

Thank you so much for the boxes. Your vegetables are the best I have ever tasted. I always look forward to the next one to see what's new and delicious.

. . .

I am happy to say that my plan to get my five year old to eat more veggies is working! Thanks to you hard work in the field, the generosity of the land to produce such bounty.

. . .

We received a package on Friday at 10:21. Charlene delivered our son, and he's healthy as a beet. This was a home grown, organic baby, with the help of the farm! Thanks for the food.

. . .

Just wanted to say that, even with the wet spring, the produce is just wonderful. We did enjoy the broccoli, but everything has been just excellent. All the flowers are lasting so well, too. Thanks for your hard work.

. . .

your carrots ARE the best.

. . .

We've really been enjoying your recipes on the newsletter. The frittata was great and while I was a little skeptical of including the rutabaga, I did as I was told. Not only made a wonderful dinner but we ate the leftovers for breakfast. . . twice! So see how you've changed our lives? We are eating rutabagas for breakfast! . . .another big thanks to you both. . .

. . .

  1. Produce arrived clean, and was of a size and quantity that would generally fit in the refrigerator if not in that evening's cooking pot.
  2. Ideas in the weekly farm notes on how to handle the produce and how to cook it were both friendly and useful.
  3. Connection with the producer was maintained through the notes, invitations to the August open house-and occasionally bumping into Heidi off-loading the truck at the end of HER long day:-)

. . .

Thanks for another great season.

. . .

I enjoyed our first experience with Boistfort Farm's CSA program. My entire family did. My husband doesn't eat vegetables well, but receiving a box each week was exciting even to him. . . My children thought it was the most wonderful thing that had happened to our family & would jump up and down and rush towards the box as soon as I brought it home. . . They were happy to try new vegetables and discovered they enjoyed more than they expected. . . We will definitely do it again!

. . .

I ended up eating more fruits and vegetables because of being a part of this. Also, it got me back to preparing healthier meals vs. eating on the go.
